
Jamal Bates is a Nationally Syndicated Radio Host, TV Personality, MC, Voiceover Talent, former Law Enforcement Officer, Amazon Best Selling Author and Pastor. Jamal’s radio career began with an internship and he was later hired after interning at KISS 103.1fm in Columbia, SC in 2004. For seven years, Jamal was the host of the Sunday morning Gospel program “Rejoice” from October 2004 through May 2011. In late May 2011 Jamal received the call that would change his life forever. In June 2011, Jamal became the host of "Saturday Night Inspirations" from 6pm to 10pm on the Glory Radio Network, four radio stations in South Carolina, including WFMV 95.3fm in Columbia, SC. In August 2013 Jamal was named the local host of The Yolanda Adams Morning Show weekday mornings from 6am til 10am on WFMV 95.3fm. In February 2015, 'The Jamal Bates Show' was born, you could catch him weekday afternoons from 3pm til 7pm on the WFMV 95.3fm in Columbia SC and WTUA 106.1FM in Charleston SC. After a successful run as Afternoon Host, in February 2020, Jamal walked away from his radio show to pursue another dream, a nationally syndicated radio show.
During his hiatus from radio, Jamal answered his call to Pastor. In February 2021, Jamal was installed and became the 8th Pastor of Greater Carolina Baptist Church in Columbia, SC.
Shortly after in March 2021, Jamal launched 'The Jamal Bates Morning Show' a nationally syndicated urban inspiration morning radio show. The show can be heard in cities across the country including Augusta GA , Aiken SC, Florence SC just to name a few. In April 2021, Jamal returned to WFMV 96.1fm, 107.1fm and 620am to do ‘Afternoons’ weekdays from 3pm to 7pm in the Midlands and Low Country of South Carolina. In July 2021, God opened another door for Jamal, this time in Fort Wayne, IN to host “Middays with Jamal Bates” on Rhythm & Praise 94.1fm. Jamal can be heard Monday-Saturday, 10am-2pm.

Jamal can also be seen and heard as a product endorser for products such as Bluff Road Auto Sales, The Mattress Firm, just to name a few; Jamal is a sought after host and speaker, most recently hosting the Nation's third largest gospel music awards show, the Rhythm of Gospel Awards held in Greenville, SC. Jamal is a 2004, 2008, and 2014 Rhythm of Gospel Awards Radio Announcer of the Year Nominee. In 2016 Jamal and his WFMV radio family won a Stellar Award for 'Radio Station of the Year'. In 2018 he was yet again nominated for the Rhythm of Gospel Radio Announcer of the Year AND Radio show of the year. Late 2018, Jamal along with his WFMV radio family were nominated for the NAB Macroni Award, which is the radio industry’s highest honor.
In March 2022, Jamal was named one of Radio’s African American Future Leaders by Radio Ink Magazine. Shortly after that, in July 2022, Jamal released his first book, "Claim Your Day! 14 Day Devotional". The book debuted as the #1 New Release on Amazon and quickly became a Bestseller at #22 (under 'Self Help').

In 2022, Jamal and his radio colleagues at WFMV FM were named the 2022 NAB Macroni 'Religious Radio Station of the Year'.
